Nigeria’s entertainment industry gathered in grief on Thursday as actor Alexx Ekubo was laid to rest in his hometown of Arochukwu. Family members, friends, colleagues, and admirers turned out in large numbers to pay their final respects during an emotional funeral ceremony.The 40-year-old Nollywood star died on May 11 at Evercare Hospital after battling advanced metastatic kidney cancer. His burial came a day after a wake-keep ceremony that attracted tributes and condolences from across the entertainment industry.

The funeral service marked the final farewell to an actor whose talent, charisma, and vibrant personality made him one of Nollywood’s most beloved figures. Hundreds of mourners, many wearing black commemorative T-shirts bearing his image, gathered in Arochukwu to celebrate his life and legacy. Emotions ran high as loved ones reflected on his achievements and contributions to the Nigerian film industry.

Several prominent actors and filmmakers travelled from across the country to honour the late star. Actress Angela Okorie was among those who publicly expressed her grief, urging fans to keep Ekubo’s family in their prayers. Since news of his death emerged, tributes have continued to pour in from colleagues and fans, who remember him as a gifted performer, loyal friend, and inspiring personality. Notable attendees included IK Ogbonna, Michael Godson, Ayo Makun, Ini Edo, Omoni Oboli, Yomi Casual, Funke Akindele and Segun Arinze.
