The Headquarters Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps has declared Private Mohammed Yusuf Amutu wanted following allegations that he illegally sold and supplied military uniforms to terrorists and criminal syndicates. In a official statement released by Major Oluwatope Aluko, Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the Corps, military authorities revealed that initial findings tied the soldier to the illegal activity after he vanished from his duty post.

Amutu, who was attached to the Nigerian Army Ordnance Kits Factory, reportedly deserted his unit on June 3, 2026. The statement confirmed that formal military authorities have officially declared him wanted, and active search operations are under way to locate and apprehend him so he can face thorough investigation and court-martial proceedings under military law. The Ordnance Corps emphasized its strict zero-tolerance policy regarding indiscipline, treasonous misconduct, or any action that threatens national security or compromises the operational integrity and public trust of the Nigerian Army.

It warned that any service member caught assisting terrorists or criminal organizations through the unauthorized distribution, diversion, or sale of military attire, gear, or controlled equipment will face the full penalties prescribed by both military and civil law. The military command called on the general public to assist by supplying verifiable information regarding the soldier’s whereabouts, advising anyone with relevant details to contact the nearest security agency or military base. Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and professionalism, the Corps assured citizens that it will continue strengthening internal safeguards to protect military supplies and hold accountable any personnel implicated in wrongdoing.
