Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has approved an increase in the monthly state allowance for corps members serving in the state, raising it from ₦5,000 to ₦20,000.

The announcement was made on Friday during the State Delivery Meeting held at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Uyo.According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the increment will take effect from August 1.

Governor Eno stated that the decision aims to complement the Federal Government’s ₦77,000 monthly allowance and help corps members meet their basic needs. “More than 10,000 corps members are posted to Akwa Ibom annually. We must continue to encourage and support them,” he said.

Last week, the governor also approved the reconstruction of the NYSC Orientation Camp at Ikot Itie Idung as part of broader efforts to improve the welfare of corps members in the state. Source; https://www.google.com/amp/s/punchng.com/
