The Federal Government has announced a 21-day closure of the Ijora-Marine Bridge in Lagos State starting May 18 for urgent maintenance. The Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Olukorede Kesha, confirmed that the closure would commence at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday and would involve both partial and full shutdowns of sections of the bridge.

She explained that the work would include lifting the bridge deck to replace worn-out bearings and other essential repairs to enhance safety for road users.Kesha acknowledged the likely inconvenience but emphasized the importance of the work for the long-term integrity of the bridge.

She assured that traffic diversions had been planned and officials would be deployed to manage flow. Residents and commuters were urged to plan their routes in advance, with safety signs and traffic tools to be installed to reduce disruption.
