Timi Dakolo Criticizes Pastor Femi Lazarus for Charging $150 for Ministry School

Nigerian singer and songwriter, Timi Dakolo, has called out Gospel Minister Pastor Femi Lazarus over what he describes as hypocrisy, stating that his criticism comes from a place of love and respect.

Dakolo expressed his frustration online after discovering that Pastor Femi Lazarus charges $150 for his Ministry School, despite previously criticizing other gospel ministers for doing the same. He recalled how the pastor had once claimed that anyone who charges for ministering is not a gospel artist but merely a performer. However, Dakolo pointed out that Lazarus was now engaging in a similar practice by charging for ministry training.

Sharing receipts of the alleged transaction, Dakolo questioned the fairness of charging people to learn about Christ, emphasizing that the Gospel and divine revelation should be given freely.

In his post, he wrote: *”All this was said in love and with respect, sir. I am not a gospel artist, but a Christian raised in the church. Let’s not shift the goalpost. By your definition, if anyone charges to minister, they are not gospel artists but performers. And by that same definition, if a preacher charges to teach and minister, they are merchants of hope, motivational speakers, and performers too.”*

He further criticized the introduction of different pricing tiers—premium and standard—for a ministry school, questioning whether the pastor was monetizing a gift that should be freely shared.

Lots of netizens however did not agree with his claims, defending Pastor Femi Lazarus. They believed he had every right to charge as it was a school, not a charity.Read some of the comments below;

@africanflamingo_ Timi why this thing still dey pain you. He was referring to gospel ministers and not gospel artists/musicians

@doctall_kingsley lol, you called it a school yourself. Has he ever charged to come and preach, that should be the question ? 😂😂😂

@mi_nwachukwu1 Is there any school that doesn’t collect fees? No go get problem with God ooooo, uncle rest,

@__dozie_x I totally agree with Timi, abeg.. nobody should be paying a dime for that. Even if the school has to charge, it shouldn’t be expensive. For the body of Christ, it should be subsidized so that low-income people who are called by God to be ministers can actually afford it. Did Jesus ever drop account details when He was teaching His disciples?

@avalonokpe @timidakolo press him neck well well😂😂
