The Osun State Government has launched Imole Wi-Fi, a free public internet service aimed at expanding digital access and boosting socio-economic development across the state. The initiative, unveiled by the Office of the Special Adviser on Innovation, Science, Technology, and Digital Economy, forms part of the government’s broader strategy to drive digital inclusion and economic growth.

The service is currently available at key locations in Osogbo, including the Osun State Library, Osun Mall, Alphastart Hub, Salvation Army Middle School, Osogbo Grammar School, and the Ministry of Innovation, Science, Technology, and Digital Economy.Governor Ademola Adeleke described the project as a “gateway to opportunity,” noting that the Wi-Fi service will help break barriers, connect people, and stimulate growth across various sectors of the state’s economy.

Special Adviser on Innovation, Science, and Technology, Azeez Badmus, explained that the current rollout is the first phase, with plans underway to expand the service to more locations across the state. He added that as the network grows, more government services and sector-specific digital tools will be integrated to ensure residents fully benefit from Osun’s digital transformation.

According to the government, Imole Wi-Fi will benefit students, job seekers, entrepreneurs, healthcare providers, farmers, and local communities by facilitating access to education, employment opportunities, health services, agricultural resources, and improved communication for public safety. The project is expected to play a key role in strengthening education, employment, healthcare delivery, and community safety across Osun State.
