The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has prohibited indiscriminate parking and the obstruction of roads ahead of the 2025/2026 CrossOver Night celebrations. The announcement was made in a statement by the Director of the Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Adebayo Taofiq, on Sunday.

The agency emphasized a “zero-tolerance” approach toward motorists who convert public roads into parking areas or event spaces.Addressing the anticipated surge in activity at worship centers, nightclubs, and event venues, LASTMA’s General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, warned that the agency is prepared to enforce traffic regulations rigorously.

“LASTMA strongly condemns the abuse of public road infrastructure through its conversion into improvised parking spaces or informal event venues, describing such acts as serious violations of traffic rules with significant implications for public safety, emergency response, and urban mobility,” Bakare-Oki stated. To manage the expected increase in traffic, he added that a specialized enforcement framework has been activated.
