Labour unions affiliated with the Nigerian Meteorological Agency have agreed to put their strike on hold for two weeks. The temporary suspension of the industrial action, which was sparked by grievances over poor working conditions, followed a meeting with the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, held in Abuja on Thursday.
Speaking to *The PUNCH*, President of the National Union of Air Transport Employees, Uzor Oluchi, confirmed the development. “We have put the strike on hold as of 12 noon for a two-week period. If no concrete action is taken on our demands within that time, the strike will resume,” Oluchi stated.
The workers had earlier decried inadequate working conditions, including the non-implementation of the new minimum wage, exclusion of some employees from previously approved allowances, and a lack of access to crucial training initiatives. More updates are expected soon.
