Nigerian Actor Yomi Fabiyi Calls for Protest on First Anniversary of Mohbad’s Death

Popular Nigerian actor and activist Yomi Fabiyi has called for a protest to mark the first anniversary of the death of singer Mohbad. Fabiyi made this call in a post on his Instagram page, urging Nigerians to attend the upcoming court session of the coroner’s inquest and to consider organizing protests if no progress is made by then.

“Let’s storm the court peacefully and attend the next coroner’s inquest and protest to register our demands on this case,” Fabiyi wrote. “If nothing tangible is seen or heard, we focus on the day of the one-year anniversary.”

Mohbad, a former signee of the Marlian record label, died on September 12, 2023, under mysterious circumstances. The controversy surrounding his death led the Lagos State Police Command to establish a 13-man special investigation team to probe the matter. His body was exhumed for an autopsy on September 21, 2023, at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).

However, the pathologist who conducted the autopsy reported that the test could not determine the cause of death due to the body’s decomposition. Dissatisfied with this outcome, Mohbad’s family has demanded an independent autopsy.

Fabiyi’s call to action reflects the ongoing demand for justice and clarity regarding Mohbad’s untimely death. By urging a peaceful yet firm demonstration, he aims to keep the case in the public eye and ensure that efforts to uncover the truth continue.
