Widespread Technical Issues Hit Microsoft 365, Disrupting Email and Productivity ServicesReports of outages on Downdetector, a website that tracks service disruptions, began flooding in around 7:40 am, with nearly 880 issues reported by 9:45 am. Although the number of reports decreased to around 500 by 11:50 am, users continued to experience difficulties.
When attempting to access Outlook, users encountered an error message stating, “Your request can’t be completed right now.” Many reported issues viewing emails, sending messages, and saving drafts. Another error message read, “The original message can’t be shown right now. It will be included when this message is sent.”
Microsoft’s service health webpage initially indicated that all services were functioning properly, stating, “We’re all good! Everything is up and running.” However, the company’s 365 admin pages revealed various health issues and advisories affecting Exchange Online, Microsoft 365 suite, and Microsoft Teams services.
These issues included:
- Users unable to access Microsoft Teams calendars.
- European administrators experiencing data inaccuracies.
- Users unable to sync or send email messages from Outlook for MacWhile the outage appears to be primarily affecting European users, with only a dozen reports made on the American Downdetector, the number of issue reports has increased to 34 in the past 15 minutes.
Microsoft 365 is a suite of productivity software that includes popular applications like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Microsoft has been approached for comment on the ongoing technical issues.
